Mud

Mud Web 1024x683

This isn’t really breaking news but we’ve had too much rain. Since June we’ve had feet more rain than is normal. It’s made for the toughest year I’ve had in 8 seasons.

Tomatoes succumbed to diseases much earlier than normal. Carrots rotted. Lettuce went bad. And for much of the summer it was too wet to plant new crops. I had to cancel my fall CSA as there was mud and rotten vegetables everywhere.

There are parts of the yard where if you listen carefully you can actually hear water moving through the ground. And it continues. Now I admit I’m prone to being a worrier. But at some point between now and March we need a month of dry weather so I can work up some new beds for my expansion.

So lets hope for some dry weeks soon.
