Geezer Farm has been providing fresh, healthy, nourishing ecologically grown food for ten years. This season obviously presents some challenges for all local growers as the Staunton Farmers Market is delayed and many restaurants are closed.
In spite of the challenges getting my produce to consumers this year I have decided not to slow down. I am keeping to my normal planting schedule to have enough produce to serve the community. One of the best options to get our produce is to join our CSA.
Here are the CSA options:
A 20-week season large share: 8-10 items each week for $500.
A 20-week season small share: 4-6 items each week for $300.
A 4-week share: 8-10 items for $100.
Pickup options for any of the CSA’s are:
Tuesday at Geezer Farm from 4 – dusk
Friday at Geezer Farm from 4 – dusk
Wednesday at Newtown Baking from 4 – 6 pm
The Full season will run starting the week of May 3rd through the week of Sept. 13th.
Food Safety:
We have added new safety protocols to what we’ve used the last 10 years:
1. Sanitizing all wash, harvest equipment and surfaces that contact food.
2. Adding a hydrogen peroxide based sanitizer to the wash water.
3. Wearing gloves as we handle all produce.
4. Adding a hand wash station near the wash area.
5. Produce goes into a walk-in-cooler until pickup.
6. Any farm personnel with signs of illness will be home until well.
If you ever have any questions or concerns please get in touch. Thanks so much for your support as we begin our 10th growing season. Thank you in advance for sharing this information with family, friends and networks. I am determined to have a great year feeding all we serve. Stay well, Norm Shafer www.geezerfarm.com 540-470-7510
