Weekly pickups (CSA)

An array of vegetables that make up a mid summer CSA share.

CSA for 2023 is now open for joining

Email: normshafer@comcast.net to confirm your CSA spot

The Geezer Farm CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is the best way to get fresh vegetables to your table.  Each week we harvest what’s ready from our quarter-acre gardens. Joining the CSA will teach you about eating in season when the vegetables are tastiest and most healthy. You’ll learn what farming is about and appreciate getting to know where your food comes from.

We will be offering 30 CSA shares this growing season. Five of these shares will be donated to community members, food banks, and area nonprofits for people experiencing barriers to obtaining fresh produce. These five shares will be sponsored by interested friends, family, and community members. If you’d like to sponsor a share or partial share, please email India for more information: infle0022@gmail.com.

The price for the 20-week CSA is $525. You will receive on average between 6-8 different vegetables each week (sponsored shares will be distributed as needed appropriate to recipients).

  • CSA runs week of May 7-September 17 (20 Weeks)
  • Cost is $525
  • $225 Deposit upon signup: Remainder of $300 due March 15
  • Pickups are Tues. or Fri. 4 pm-dusk on Farm
  • We accept personal checks, cash or Venmo
  • Email normshafer@comcast.net to signup

Members are welcome to tour by appointment, and to volunteer by prior arrangement.

We grow a wide variety of vegetables, most you will be familiar with and a few that may be new to you. What you get weekly will change throughout the season. In May we start with kale and other cooking greens along with salad vegetables.

In early summer you’ll start to get squash, carrots, beets, sugar snap peas and asian greens. In mid-July the summer fruits will appear: tomatoes, eggplant, peppers (sweet and hot), along with watermelon, Swiss chard, various herbs, cabbage, okra, potatoes and beans. In September we transition back to more greens, root vegetables and winter squash.

All pickups are at Geezer Farm, located between Staunton and Verona on Hermitage Rd. Please call if you have any questions. 540-470-7510

Here is a list of vegetables for each month. The chart shows approximately when they first appear.  Many last more than one month and many reappear in September.
